Type of prepositions and their Hindi meaning –
Different type of prepositions and their usage in English speaking. There are some very common prepositions that are frequently used in daily conversation in English. You can’t be good speaker without knowing them.

What is a preposition ( संबंधसूचक) ?
Preposition किसी संज्ञा ( Noun ) सर्वनाम ( pronoun ) से पहले use होकर उनका संबंध वाक्य के किसी दूसरे noun या pronoun से जोड़ता है।
The man ran into the house.
Gita came from Delhi.
She is in the class room.
ऊपर के वाक्यों में गुलाबी रंग वाले सभी शब्द preposition के उदाहरण है।

Some common Preposition and their correct use
1) About – लगभग / के बारे में
She is about 5 feet tall. वह लगभग पांच फूट लंबी है।
I am talking about your good habits. मैं तुम्हारी अच्छी आदतों के बारे में बात कर रहा हूं।
2) above – पर / ऊपर
They live above us. वे हमारे ऊपर रहते हैं।
There is a picture above the mirror. आईना के ऊपर एक तस्वीर है।
3) across – उस पार / एक छोर से दूसरे छोर तक
Can you swim across the river ? क्या तुम नदी के उस पार तक तैर सकते हो ?
My office is across the road. मेरी ऑफिस सड़क के बिल्कुल उस पार है।
4) around – चारों तरफ / आसपास
The children were standing around their teacher. बच्चे अपने शिक्षक के चारो ओर खड़े हुए थे।
The child must be around here. बच्चा ज़रूर यहीं आसपास होगा।
5) before – पहले / सामने
Think before you speak. बोलने से पहले सोचो।
The thief was brought before the judge. चोर को जज के सामने लाया गया।
6) by – तक / से ) के द्वारा
They return here by tomorrow. वे यहां कल तक वापस आ जाएंगे।
I am a teacher by profession. मैं पेशे से एक शिक्षक हूं।
We are going by train. हम रेलगाड़ी से जा रहे हैं।

7) Behind – पीछे
Who is behind your success ? आपके कामयाबी के पीछे किसका हाथ है ?
My friend lives behind the temple. मेरा दोस्त मंदिर के पीछे रहता है।
8) into – में, कोई चीज़ बाहर से अन्दर जाती है ( गति से)
The boy was throwing stones into the river. लड़का पत्थर नदी में फेंक रहा था।
She was jumping into the river. वह नदी में कूद रही थी।
9) onto – पर, (गति से) कोई चीज़ बाहर से कोई चीज़ surface पर land करे
The ball is going onto the grass. गेंद घास पर जा रहा है।
पक्षी डाल पर बैठ रहा है। The bird is sitting onto the branch of the tree.
10) within – के अन्दर / भीतर (समय या जगह के)
No one likes to stay within the four walls of the house. घर के चार दिवारी में कोई भी रहना पसंद नहीं करता है।
I am sure, he will be back within a week. मुझे पूरा विश्वास है, वह एक सप्ताह के अन्दर आ जाएगा।
11) between – के बीच में ( दो के )
I was sitting between my mother and father. मैं अपने मां और पिताजी के बीच में बैठा था।
There is a match between India and Pakistan. भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच में एक मैच है।
12) among – के बीच में ( दो से अधिक के )
The king distributed his wealth among his four sons. राजा ने अपने चारों बेटे के बीच धन बांट दिया।
